Eradicating Homeless

Even after an area is developed and urbanizing, the problem of homelessness still remains. In fact, as an area urbanizes, the problem of homelessness continues to grow with it. There are not enough shelters built for the less income families and this leads to one of the causes making them homeless. Also since the villagers who come seeking to the towns are less skillful, they often do not get jobs and create the urban-rural fringe. There is help given to these people, such as low cost-affordable houses are built and available. However there many wanting to buy the houses and their names are just put on the waiting list. Although homelessness cannot be completely eradicated, there are many things that students and other people like us can do. Economic growth in India is driving an unprecedented shift in population to urban centers. As many as 11 Indian cities figure among the 100 fastest growing cities in the world. Therefore in our project we will be focusing more upon the question whether in a highly and fast developing city like Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India - urbanisation is a cause of homelessness or not. Rapid urbanisation can result in a sudden rise in poverty. Impoverished individuals moving from rural areas to the city may experience homelessness, hunger and lack of health care. We believe that through this project we can help create awareness and help the situation at least in our local area. We also wish to help the homeless people by donating things that would help them with the various problems such as that of sanitation and food.
